We all sit wonky in the saddle, either because of long-term cognitive habits, or because our horses and ponies make us that way. In other words - the vast majority of us are asymmetrical.
Regardless of the reason, wouldn’t it be great to be able to sit straighter, be more balanced and give your horse the best chance of moving correctly and fundamentally reducing the risk of injury and wear and tear and improving your capability as a rider? That's the goal we all aim for, right?

A happier horse, where you know as a rider, you are doing your absolute best by them.
This is why the Equiseat Aid was born. The product is designed to fit around your stronger leg, to stop you from "gripping up" and tipping your weight over to the opposite side, allowing your hips to engage symmetrically, straightening your shoulders and pelvis and engaging both seat bones in the saddle evenly, in turn also straightening the upper body through the spine.
Take a look at the before and after example below, to see how much of a positive difference wearing Equiseat Aid on the rider's 'gripping' leg (her left leg) makes to her pony's way of going.Equiseat Aid is designed to help the rider sit straight and balanced in the saddle. By attaching it to your stronger leg to stop you gripping up, which in turn engages your weaker leg, centralising your seat bones and levelling you up the saddle.
We often get asked "how do I know which is my stronger leg?". Typically we might feel that one stirrup is always longer, or our saddle constantly slips to the same side. We can feel our horse flexes and bends better on one rein than the other and when jumping, it's common for a horse to drift to one side. You can always get a friend to video you riding in a straight line and you'll instantly see which side your body favours.
However you discover your dominant side, Equiseat Aid allows you to focus on what you're doing without having to consciously think about where straight is, and over time it builds up the muscle memory so that when you take it off, you will naturally be more symmetrical.
So what does that actually mean for your horse? Well, if your horse has struggled with back soreness, hind leg lameness or any general wear and tear issues, the likelihood is this is symptomatic of rider asymmetry. Most of us will look to our equine physio, our saddle fitter, our trainer/coach and other experts to help us treat these symptoms.
How would you feel if there was a way of minimising these symptoms in the first place?
Equiseat Aid has been proven to positively support equine physio treatments. When the rider sits straighter, the horse can build muscles equally on both sides of their body, in turn making them stronger all over and accelerating the benefits your physio will bring with hands-on treatment.
We also have trainers and coaches on our side; they have recognised that Equiseat Aid helps them in their training by minimising rider asymmetry and improving a rider's capability.
Equiseat Aid is so simple to use which makes it easy for every day use, no matter the discipline or ability. Equiseat Aid has been developed with equine welfare and ethics very much in mind. We want to encourage more riders to take action when it comes to our responsibility for the direct impact we all have on our horse’s freedom of movement, minimising any injury or wear and tear and vastly improving the overall longevity of the ridden horse.
